Every room you add is priced independently, then summed into one itemised total — so a mixed job (say, wool carpet in the lounge and a budget twist pile upstairs) still gets an accurate figure. Materials come from each carpet type’s real per-m² price range; underlay uses our standard PU foam rate; fitting labour uses our fitting-only rate applied to every room, whether or not you’re buying carpet from us. Ranges reflect genuine variation in carpet grade and room complexity, not padding — the low end is a realistic budget job, the high end a premium finish. How accurate is this carpet cost calculator?
It's a guide price built from our real pricing data — carpet type, underlay and fitting labour rates — so it's a solid starting point for budgeting. Your final quote depends on the exact rooms, access, and any prep work needed, which is why we always confirm with a proper measure-up before you commit.
Should I measure in metres or feet?
Whichever is easier — use the m/ft toggle on each room and we'll convert automatically. If you're working from an estate agent's floorplan it's often in metres already; if you're measuring with a tape from a UK retailer's guide it might be in feet, both work fine here.
What's the difference between “supply + fit” and “fitting only”?
Supply + fit means we provide the carpet and fit it, so the calculator includes materials. Fitting only means you've already bought (or are buying) your own carpet and just need our fitters — tick that box and we drop materials from the estimate, leaving just labour and underlay.
Does the estimate include underlay?
Only if you tick the underlay box. When ticked, we use our entry-level PU foam underlay rate as the guide price — if you want a heavier-duty grade for stairs or high traffic, try the Underlay Picker tool and we'll price that specific grade for you.
