Loop Pile Carpets
Uncut loops give a tailored, textured look that wears exceptionally well.

How This Flooring Is Made
Made from yarn looped through the backing without being cut, so the fibre tips stay joined rather than standing free. Loops can be level, for a uniform height, or multi-level for a patterned, textured surface, usually in wool, polypropylene or a wool blend, giving a firmer, more structured weave than a cut pile. Sisal-look and cord ranges are both variations on this same looped construction.
Feel Underfoot
A firmer, more textured feel underfoot than a cut pile — closer to a tightly woven mat than a soft plush carpet, with a slightly cooler, crisper touch. It's a look and feel that suits contemporary interiors and hard-working spaces rather than a cosy bedroom or formal sitting room, and it holds its shape well underfoot even in a busy household.
Wear & Durability
Extremely hard-wearing because there are no cut fibre ends to fray or flatten — the closed loops resist crushing and hide footmarks well, which is why loop pile is a mainstay of commercial carpet and busy domestic hallways alike. The main weakness is snagging: a loose loop caught by a pet claw or stiletto heel can pull and run, so care is worth taking around sharp edges.
Which Rooms It Suits
Ideal for hallways, staircases, home offices and open-plan living areas where a tailored, modern look needs to survive daily footfall. Less suited to homes with cats prone to scratching furnishings, or rooms where a softer, sink-in texture is wanted underfoot rather than a crisp, structured finish, such as a bedroom or nursery.
Cleaning & Care
Vacuum with a suction-only head or a low beater-bar setting to avoid catching and pulling loops — a rotating brush bar on full power is the main cause of snags. Any pulled loop should be trimmed level with scissors rather than pulled further, and stains lift well thanks to the tight, closed weave resisting deep penetration.
