Carpet Removal & Disposal: Done Properly
Removal looks simple but done properly it protects the floor underneath as much as it clears the old carpet. Carpet and underlay are lifted separately, since underlay often perishes differently to the carpet above it, and the gripper is checked and either kept, reset or removed depending on what's going back down. Where possible, offcuts and underlay are separated for recycling rather than sent to general waste, since carpet fibre and foam underlay are processed differently by most contractors. On older subfloors we check for adhesive residue or nails left behind, which cause problems for whatever flooring goes down afterwards.
