Laminate Flooring Fitting: Done Properly
Laminate's finish depends on the click system and the gaps left around it, not just the board quality. Most modern laminates use an angle-tap or drop-lock click system, and boards go down on a flat subfloor with foam or combination underlay beneath, staggered so joints don't line up between rows. Expansion gaps of roughly 8-12mm are left at every wall and fixed obstacle, since laminate moves with temperature and humidity and a tightly fitted floor will eventually peak or gap. Beading covers the expansion gap at skirting level, and thresholds are fitted wherever the laminate meets another floor type.
