Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)
Karndean/Amtico-style planks and tiles — the realism of wood or stone, warmer and quieter underfoot.
Durability ●●●●●

How This Flooring Is Made
Multi-layer planks or tiles built around a rigid or flexible PVC core, topped with a realistic printed wood or stone design and a clear wear layer, then finished with an embossed texture that mimics real grain or grout lines. Fitted either as click-together flooring that floats over the subfloor, or as glue-down tiles bonded directly to it — click suits DIY-friendly domestic jobs, glue-down suits heavier commercial footfall and larger open-plan floors that need extra stability.
Feel Underfoot
Noticeably warmer, softer and quieter underfoot than real wood, stone or ceramic tile, while still looking convincingly like the real thing close up and from a distance. Rigid-core click ranges feel solid and stable underfoot; thinner glue-down tiles feel closer to a traditional vinyl, though still firmer underfoot than carpet, with barely any give.
Wear & Durability
Excellent durability and fully waterproof, with a wear layer built to withstand years of scuffs, pet claws and everyday footfall without showing it much at all. It resists dents noticeably better than sheet vinyl thanks to the rigid core, though very heavy point-loads, such as unpadded furniture feet or dropped kitchenware, can still leave a mark over time.
Which Rooms It Suits
A premium option for kitchens, hallways, open-plan living spaces, conservatories and bathrooms, where its realistic finish and total water resistance suit rooms that need to look smart while coping with daily wear and tear underfoot. Increasingly chosen for whole ground floors, since planks run continuously from room to room without the transition strips carpet or tile would need.
Cleaning & Care
Sweep or vacuum to remove grit, then damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner — no sealing, oiling or waxing needed, unlike real wood or stone flooring. Felt pads under furniture legs prevent scratching, and spills can be left rather than blotted urgently, since the surface is fully waterproof throughout, right down to the seams.
