Carpet Tiles
Swap a stained tile instead of replacing a floor — the practical commercial choice.
Durability ●●●●●

How This Flooring Is Made
Modular carpet squares, commonly 50×50cm, with their own backing — usually a tufted loop or cut pile in polypropylene or nylon — fixed with tile-release adhesive, tackifier or peel-and-stick tabs rather than stretched and gripped like broadloom carpet. Backings range from bitumen for heavy commercial use to lighter felt for domestic rooms, and tiles are typically laid in a brick, ashlar or quarter-turn pattern for a deliberately mixed-pile look.
Feel Underfoot
Firmer and flatter underfoot than broadloom carpet, with a low, dense pile designed for durability rather than plush comfort. There can be a very slight seam or edge sensation between individual tiles, though a well-fitted floor feels close to continuous underfoot once the whole room is laid, especially with tightly butted, well-aligned edges.
Wear & Durability
Exceptionally hard-wearing and practical — a stained, burnt or worn tile can simply be lifted out and swapped for a spare rather than replacing the whole floor, which is the entire point of the format. The dense, low pile also resists crushing and matting under rolling office chairs and heavy day-to-day footfall, making it a firm favourite in busy commercial settings.
Which Rooms It Suits
The natural choice for home offices, utility rooms, playrooms, conservatories, garages-turned-gyms and anywhere spills or heavy use are a given, as well as commercial and rental settings generally. Less suited to formal living rooms, where broadloom's seamless finish and softer pile usually look and feel considerably better underfoot and to the eye.
Cleaning & Care
Individual tiles lift out for spot cleaning or straight replacement, making stains and burns far less of a crisis than on broadloom carpet — always keep a few spare tiles from the same batch for an exact colour match later on down the line. Otherwise they vacuum and clean just like any other tufted carpet, with no special products required beyond a standard carpet cleaner.
